Easy Naan Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ cup yogurt (plain)
- ¾ cup warm water
- 2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
- Optional: minced garlic, chopped cilantro, or sesame seeds for topping
Instructions:
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
Add Wet Ingredients: Add the yogurt, warm water, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.
Knead: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, until smooth.
Rest: Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rest for at least 1 hour.
Shape the Naan: Divide the dough into 6-8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball, then flatten it into an oval or circle about ¼ inch thick.
Cook: Preheat a skillet or tandoor over medium-high heat. Cook each naan for about 1-2 minutes on one side until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
Optional Toppings: If desired, brush the hot naan with melted butter and sprinkle with minced garlic, cilantro, or sesame seeds.
Serve: Enjoy warm with your favorite curry or as a side!
Tips:
- For a softer naan, cover it with a kitchen towel after cooking.
- You can also add herbs or spices to the dough for extra flavor!
Enjoy your homemade naan!
