Ice cream recipie and cooking method

Ice cream recipie and cooking method

Making ice cream at home can be a fun and rewarding process. Here’s a basic recipe for homemade vanilla ice cream, along with a step-by-step guide:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional:

    • 1/2 cup mix-ins (like chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit)

    Equipment:

    • Ice cream maker
    • Mixing bowls
    • Whisk
    • Ice cream scoop

    Instructions:

    1. Prepare the Mixture:

      • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and salt until well combined.
      • Add the whole milk to the sugar mixture and whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.
      • Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract.
    2. Chill the Mixture:

      • Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until it is thoroughly chilled. Chilling the mixture helps it churn better and improves the final texture of the ice cream.
    3. Churn the Ice Cream:

      • Pour the chilled mixture into your ice cream maker.
      • Follow the manufacturer's instructions for churning. Typically, this takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on your machine.

        1. Add Mix-Ins (Optional):

          • If you want to add any mix-ins like chocolate chips or fruit, do so in the last 5 minutes of churning.
        2. Freeze the Ice Cream:

          • Once the ice cream has reached a soft-serve consistency, transfer it to an airtight container.
          • Freeze for at least 2 hours to firm up the ice cream further.
        3. Serve:

          • Scoop the ice cream into bowls or cones and enjoy!

        Tips:

        • Ice Cream Maker: If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can use a no-churn method, but the texture might be slightly different. For the no-churn method, pour the mixture into a freezer-safe container and stir every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours to break up ice crystals, then freeze until firm.
        • Flavor Variations: You can infuse the ice cream with different flavors by adding ingredients like cocoa powder (for chocolate ice cream), fruit purees, or spices (like cinnamon or nutmeg) to the mixture before churning.
        • Storage: Homemade ice cream is best enjoyed within a couple of weeks, as it can become icy over time.

Enjoy making and eating your homemade ice cream
